The Remaining Relative Visa is a permanent visa option for individuals whose close family members all live in Australia.
It is designed to reunite families by allowing applicants to join their immediate relatives when they have no close family remaining outside Australia.
There are two visa options depending on where the application is made.
The Subclass 115 visa is for applicants applying from outside Australia, while the Subclass 835 visa is for those already in Australia.
To qualify, applicants must show that they do not have any close family members living outside Australia
Their parents, siblings, including step-siblings, or children must all be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens who are usually living in Australia
Applicants must be sponsored by an eligible relative who is settled in Australia and at least 18 years old
They must also meet standard health and character requirements
Applicants need to provide clear evidence of their family structure and the residency status of all close relatives
This visa grants permanent residency, allowing applicants to live in Australia indefinitely with their family
It provides a pathway to long-term settlement and access to the benefits associated with permanent residency
Applicants may have the opportunity to apply for Australian citizenship once eligible
