The Contributory Aged Parent visa pathway includes two stages.
The Subclass 884 visa is a temporary visa valid for up to 2 years, while the Subclass 864 visa offers permanent residency.
Many applicants choose to begin with the 884 visa and then transition to the 864 visa during their stay.
Both visas must be applied for and granted while the applicant is in Australia, making them suitable for parents who are already onshore on a valid visa.
Processing times can be lengthy due to high demand. Applicants should be prepared for potential delays. Applicants must continue to meet visa conditions throughout the process.
