Bridging VISAS
A Bridging Visa allows you to lawfully remain in Australia between the expiry of your current visa and the outcome of your new visa application.
If your current visa is expiring and you have applied for another visa in Australia, you may be eligible for a Bridging Visa.
At 7 Stars Global Migration, we help clients understand which bridging visa applies to their situation and what conditions they may have while waiting for a decision.
A Bridging Visa allows you to lawfully remain in Australia between the expiry of your current visa and the outcome of your new visa application.
It is an important temporary visa arrangement that helps applicants maintain legal status during their transition.
A Bridging Visa is a temporary visa granted by the Australian Government to allow you to stay legally in Australia while your immigration matter is being processed.
This may include waiting for a decision on a new visa application, making arrangements to leave Australia, or resolving visa status issues.
A Bridging Visa does not provide permanent residency by itself.
It is not a pathway visa, but rather a temporary mechanism to ensure that:
You remain lawful in Australia.
Your immigration status stays valid.
You may continue working or studying depending on your visa conditions.
You avoid becoming unlawful while waiting for a visa outcome.
Helps maintain valid immigration status between visa applications
May allow applicants to continue working or studying, depending on visa conditions
Helps applicants avoid becoming unlawful while waiting for a visa outcome
Some bridging visas may allow temporary travel overseas if approved
Provides temporary support while applicants wait for skilled, partner, employer-sponsored, or other visa outcomes

This is the most common bridging visa. It is generally granted when a person applies for a new substantive visa while they are in Australia and still hold a valid current visa.
A Bridging Visa B is for people who already hold a Bridging Visa A or B and need to travel overseas temporarily while waiting for their visa decision.
A Bridging Visa C may apply when a person lodges a visa application after their previous visa has already expired, or in certain situations where a second substantive visa application is lodged while another visa matter is still pending.
A Bridging Visa D is a short-term visa issued in limited circumstances when a person needs a very short period to make a valid visa application or arrange immigration matters.
A Bridging Visa E is typically granted to people who are unlawful in Australia, or who already hold a BVE or certain other temporary bridging visas.
